Hyperactivity in ADHD can lead to challenges sitting still or focusing in understimulating environments. We tend to fidget because we want to stimulate our brains in these situations.
Engaging in an activity that uses a sense other than what’s required for your primary task, like fidgeting with your hands while in a meeting or reading, can help focus and improve your performance. I often carry something intentionally to fidget with to help me focus.
